Xia Xia Pets are the latest creations from the makers of Zhu Zhu Pets and distributed by Character Options, Xia Xia  (pronounced Shah-Shah) are playful and colourful hermit crabs.

There are 4 hermit crabs released in the first series and consist of:

• Turks with her red shell and girly pink bows
• Tobago with his rough-and-tumble blue exterior and boyish grin
• Bimini with her pink polka-dotted shell and flirty eyes
• Trinidad with his grey skull-spotted shell and orange body

So what makes these Xia Xia pets even more special is that each of the hermit crabs of course comes with it’s own shell and you can also swap shells and collect them. Additional shells can be purchased seperatly and swapped with friends.  This is just like a real hermit crab that survives in the wild by living and hiding in the shell of a sea snail, then as the crab get’s bigger it must move out and get a bigger shell and it’s this habit of moving from shell to shell which gives rise to it’s name hermit crabs.

That’s not all, these xia xia crabs can also move and dance!  Just push their claws to set them off on their very funny crab walking.  Kids are going to love these cute and highly collectible toys and what’s more you also get a extra surprise for in every hermit crabs shell is a little friend to collect which really is a cool extra bonus that kids are going to love playing with.

I really think that the xia xia toys are the next big thing and once you start to see the toys and the playsets which are available you will start to understand why these little critters are causing so much fun.  That leads us on to the xia xia playsets, just like with there hamster cousins, the xia xia hermit crabs also have their own worlds which can be created so that they can have even more crazy fun.

The Xia Xia Pets were offically due to be launched in early 2012 but due to the overwelming demand Character Options are air frieghting a limited number of xia-xia toys into the UK just in time for Christmas.  They should be avilable in limited stock quantities from a number of online retailers including Toys R Us, Woolworths, Firebox, amazon.co.uk and a number of others.
